本劇改編自Richard Flanagan于2014年榮獲布克獎的同名小說。
Dorrigo Evans是一位陸軍外科醫(yī)生，在二戰(zhàn)期間一個負責(zé)修建泰緬鐵路的戰(zhàn)俘營里，勉強成為了男性囚犯的領(lǐng)頭人。與叔叔的年輕妻子Amy的短暫婚外情，伴隨著他度過了人生中最黑暗的時光。
